To ensure that the declared programs are on target, a social mapping is held. Social mapping is performed by involving Stakeholders consisting of the communities, local government (from the lowest to the highest level), customer, business partner, and parent company.
Social mapping is performed to areas with direct impact to company activities. As a result, there are two areas with direct and indirect impact, namely Ring 1 and Ring 2. RING 1 area consists of communities with direct contact with company activity. In social mapping there are six kelurahan and three kecamatan in Surabaya as well as two villages and one kecamatan in Gresik. Kelurahan with direct impact are Kelurahan Tambak Osowilangun, Romokalisari (both in Kecamatan Benowo), Genteng Kalianak, Tambaksarioso (both in Kecamatan Asemrowo), and Morokrembangan (Kecamatan Krembangan). The three kecamatan are within Surabaya. Meanwhile, those within Gresik area are Desa Tenggulunan and Karangkiring in Kecamatan Kebomas.
Aside from mapping Ring 1 area, Terminal Teluk Lamong also mapped Ring 2 with four kelurahan and three kecamatan in Surabaya. Kelurahan with no direct impact or in Ring 2 are Manukan Wetan, Balongsari (both in Kecamatan Tandes), Sumber Rejo (Kecamatan Pakal), and Dupak (Kecamatan Krembangan).
Social mapping has to be followed by implementation of focus group discussion (FGD) to fulfill the communities’ needs in accordance with company policy. In FGD the communities are asked to make a list of needs to be submitted to the Management. The social mapping facilitates assistance distribution as well as the preparation of the next work program.
